If the imagination is the soul’s playground, then Pan’s Labyrinth is the inspiration for the swing set. It’s easy to see why it won multiple Oscars and other awards while you get lost within this brutal and touching movie.

The child-like nature of the film adds a sinister feel, and a sense of near-disaster follows throughout it in the shadows. Haunting, creepy and awesome are all ways to describe this masterpiece of a movie, and it is a welcome change of pace from the usual slew of action and humour that fill up theatres—even if it is subtitled.
