The world's top 1 percent of wealthy people are being discriminated against! Let's band together and fight for the rights of wealthy citizens without whose economic and philanthropic contributions, the world will be a poorer place.

The fact of the matter is, not everybody on this planet can live in a mansion, drive a Ferrari, and eat caviar every night. The world's resources are finite and such a lavish lifestyle is unsustainable. So why begrudge the rich for being stewards of our limited resources? Due to their hard work or inheritance, these people have been given the arduous task of managing vast financial empires that reach into every aspect of our lives. Do the sheep begrudge the shepherds? No! Nor should those who live lives that are nasty, brutish and short discriminate out of feelings of fear and envy.

This is a call for the wealthy to band together and occupy the poorest neighbourhoods in Vancouver. We plan for a march through the Downtown Eastside and a peaceful occupation of tent cities where the non-tax-paying homeless languish with idle hands.

Vancouver riots

Well, we didn't win the Stanley Cup obviously. After losing to Boston in game 7, a riot broke out on the streets of Vancouver and erased any international goodwill generated by the Olympics last year. In a repeat of 1994, police were unprepared for the burning, looting and vandalizing that tarnished the city last night. But let me stress this fact: these idiots are not Vancouverites who live and work in the downtown core. These young people are ill-bred suburbanites who don't give a crap about trashing somebody else's neighbourhood before retreating back to their parent's basements. How did the moral compass of this society spin so wildly out of control? These spoiled kids have never learned the value of community, respect, and civil responsibility. These are our children. Our peers. Our future.

Canada’s most livable cities

Canadian Business magazine has just released their annual report on Canada’s best places to live. Our cold and sober capital, Ottawa, graced the number one spot based on factors like household income, unemployment rate, and new cars (New cars? Really? What does splashing out on some smoking wheels have to do with livability?). Vancouver shuffled in at number 10. And what impoverished, crappy-car-driving town came in last at number 154?

Well that would be poor old Port Alberni. I saw an interview with the mayor on the local news this morning and he was livid. When asked why people should live in his city his answer was telling: “We have a new pulp mill…oh, and my wife is one of the best cooks in BC.” This culinary reference a retort, no doubt, to the fact that all the magazine editor had to eat in Port Alberni was “a donut.”

So, what city has the newest cars in Canada? That honour goes to a city in the Lower Mainland famous for its dodgy street racing and souped-up honda civics that tear up the parking lot at the SilverCity every Saturday night. You guessed it – Richmond.
